grief

Grief counseling in Phoenix and across Arizona

Your beloved is gone—or perhaps it’s someone you were deeply attached to, but whose relationship brought pain or harm. You find yourself face to face with the loss. Your heart is so, so heavy. The world no longer feels the way it once did, and you aren’t sure how to live in it now.

Your grief is as deep as your love. Here at The Encounter, I do not view grief as something that needs to be fixed, and I do not pathologize the human experience. I will bear witness to your story, honor it, and hold it. Through ritual and remembrance, we can learn to intentionally turn towards grief and build a relationship with it. I know you may not like your grief right now, or maybe you are deeply afraid of it— that is okay. We allow for all of the complexities and nuances that come with grief, while meeting it with compassion and reverence.

Your grief doesn’t need to be rushed, explained, or fixed. It only asks to be witnessed.

Ultimately, I am so deeply sorry that they are not here anymore.

Only there, only when ready, will we be able to blossom, albeit painfully, into a joy that cohabitates with grief — rather than displacing or replacing it.
